Scientists collected the simplest and most indisputable statistics – how many of the participants in the experiment died during this time.

Well, the results are just incredible!

During this time, 51% of teetotalers, 45% of finished alcoholics and only 41% of moderate drinkers went to a better world! “Clearly, moderate drinking is the key to a longer life,” the researchers shrug. We consider it a toast!

Misconception 2: Sugary drinks make you drunk faster

Oh, the insidious embrace of port! Oh, two-faced red semi-sweet! How many times have we sworn that we would not repeat the mistakes of our youth… And the majority have indeed switched to nobler dry wines and pure strong alcohol.

Meanwhile, again, American scientists have recently found that the insidiousness of sugary drinks is greatly exaggerated. Participants in the experiment (I wonder where they sign up for such experiments?) were asked to drink strong alcohol in combination with regular and diet soda. What would you think? Those who mixed their cocktails with Diet Coke got drunk much faster than those whose drinks had sugar in them. It turned out that sugar slows down the absorption of alcohol into the blood!

By the way, a more severe hangover after sugary drinks is also a myth. In fact, sweet cocktails or the same port wine subconsciously seem to us tastier than sour wine and bitter vodka (our brain generally prefers the sweet taste to everyone else), so it turns out that we drink more. As a result, hangovers are more severe.

Misconception 3. Wine gets better with age

“Even if stored in the right cellar lying down, alas, most wines become flat and sour over the years,” explains wine expert Jil Kaim. Only a very select variety of red and champagne wines can acquire a more interesting bouquet, and this is a matter of personal taste. The value of old wine lies not in the fact that it is already many years old, but in the fact that it was produced in a particular lucky year.

In general, do not even try to pass off as vintage a bottle of Isabella, which has been lying around in the closet since your turbulent youth.

Misconception 4. The degree cannot be lowered
